Re: Request to Award RDO Contract to Purchase John Deere HPX615E UTV
Grant County currently owns a 2007 Honda ATV with a plow. This piece of equipment is
currently used to plow and spray de-icing solution on the sidewalks around the C Street
Courthouse campus. The ATV is undersized for the work it is being used for and represents
several other operational challenges for snow removal and de-icing tasks.
To improve the efficiency, improve safety, and increase utilization of this type of vehicle, it was
determined a UTV would fulfill these needs. The operators would be easier to operate, the unit
would have charging capacity to support accessory devices, such as plows and sprayers, be legal
for operation on the local streets so it can be used for other sites and have the capability to be
used around the Ephrata campus for other tasks such as yard work and landscaping.
John Deere Distributor RDO has a State purchasing agreement and eliminates the need for
bidding this purchase. RDO also offers a discount if multiple units are purchased. This unit,
along with the two for the Fairgrounds, would qualify Grant County for the discount if approved.
Therefore, I am recommending to the Board and asking for your approval to purchase the John
Deere Gator UTV and accessories for the price of $16,261.18, tax and delivery included, and the
cost would be paid from current expense account 001.141.00.9112.594186400. The budgeted
amount for this in capital outlay was $16,500.
