RE: Land at Grant County Fairgrounds
Grant County has an opportunity to purchase the land adjacent to the County Fairgrounds. This
land is 57.04 acres and was appraised in August of 2020 with a fair market value of $1,425,000.
This land is currently owned by the Moses Lake School District and has been offered to the
County for $1,200,000.
The opportunity to reacquire this parcel is of strategic importance. As we continue to plan the
future of the fairgrounds the opportunities owning this parcel presents is critically important to
any plan we may develop.
The acquisition of this parcel was discussed during the 2021 budget discussions but was not
included in the 2021 budget. Central Services recommends the acquisition of this property, and
that we perform a budget and capital facilities plan amendment at the earliest opportunity. These
two actions are required for a capital purchase that was not included in the approved budget.
This request if approved will cause a Public hearing to be held where the Board will invite Public
comment on the acquisition of land, the budget and capital facilities plan amendment. If
approved during said hearing, these actions will all be approved by the Board and the transaction
will take place soon after.
