Our last Furlough week was the week ending on March27th, 2021.
Before leaving on vacation I applied for a Grant through OCVA (Office of Crime Victims Advocacy): "Victims of Child
Abuse and Neglect Initiative". This was a quick turn around and a really good opportunity for our Guardian Ad Litem
program. The anticipated Grant Award is $75,000 with a required match of 20%. (14.,000 of our current volunteer
coordinator salary and office supplies).
We currently have a Program Manager, Volunteer Coordinator with 8 active Volunteer GAL's and a staff GAL, all
English speaking only and all working to meet the needs of 243 children currently on caseload. Due to our diverse
population of about 42% Hispanic/Latino and non-white community members in Grant County. If we are awarded
with this Grant I will be hiring a Spanish- speaking volunteer coordinator to target and recruit our Spanish population
to better serve our Spanish-speaking child victims and families. This grant will also allow us to do community
outreach campaigns with local radio ads for community outreach.
2) Intakes: Today's Daily Population Report: We currently have 4 Juveniles in detention. (2 for Assaultl-1 auto
decline to adult Superior Court) and 2 for Probation Violations.

3) Courts: COVID-19 Operation
i. OFFENDER/DIVERSION: All civil and criminal matters are still being held via WebEx, and we only
have in person court hearings for Dispositions and Trials.
SSB 5122: (Concerning the jurisdiction of juvenile court). This bill did not make it out to the floor
and is a dead bill at least for this session.
ii. TRUANCY: We currently have 101 Active Petitions, 100 Total Stays which 44 were filed this school
year and 25 stays lifted for this school year and 53 contempt of court filed this school year.
iii. DEPENDENCY: The dependency unit is also doing regular docket hearings via WebEx. After having
some of my meetings with DCYF and the Attorney General, the attorneys have been filing a lot of
motions to resume with the cases that have been fallen off the calendar docket.
4) Martin Hall: No issues with transportation or communication. I attended to the Martin Hall Board Meeting on
Thursday April 22, 2021, via Zoom.
Mark Boyer, Program Administrator will be ready to do the Martin Hall tour on Thursday April 29, 2021 at 11am.
5) Administration: We currently have 1 employee on the Accommodation Plan signed by our Human Resources
Consultant Matt Morrison and Direct Supervisor. The employee is allowed to work remotely for up to 18 hours
per week or reduce her schedule below 40 hours per week. The direct supervisor is working with the employee
on a weekly basis to make sure we keep an accurate accounting of hours worked and meeting productivity while
working from home.
One of our staff member tested positive for COVID. Necessary precautions and measures were taken to avoid
an outbreak in our department, and the staff member is currently quarantining at home.
6) Needs of the Department
L Installation of the card key access with TS and Convergint Technology.
ii. Next Association Negotiation meeting will be held on April 29th, 2021. 1 am currently working directly
with Kirk to propose the change of our standby and wages.
