3) Courts : COVID-19 Operation
i. OFFENDER/DIVERSION: All civil and criminal matters are still being held via WebEx, and we only
have in person court hearings for Dispositions and Trials.
ii. TRUANCY: We currently have 116 Active Petitions, 104 Total Stays which 62 were filed this school
year and 36 stays lifted for this school year and 53 contempt of court filed this school year.
E2SSB 5290 (Bill eliminating Detention in Non -Criminal Juvenile Proceedings) Truancy on July 1,
2021.
DEPENDENCY: The dependency unit is also doing regular docket hearings via WebEx. I am still
having regular meetings with DCYF Administrator and Attorney General to staff cases and make
sure everything is running smoothly with no problems.
4) Martin Hall: There has been no issues with transportation or communication. I will be attending the Martin
Hall Board Meeting this next Thursday May 27, 2021 at 10am via Zoom.
5) Administration: We currently have 1 employee on the Accommodation Plan signed b Human
g Y our Resources
Consultant Matt Morrison and Direct Supervisor. The employee is allowed to work remotely for up to 18 hours
per week or reduce her schedule below 40 hours per week. The direct supervisor is working with the
employee on a weekly basis to make sure we keep an accurate accounting of hours worked and meeting
productivity while working from home.
We were able to move forward with the Lead Legal Secretary position. Martha Galicia was the only applicant
licant
out of the 3 secretaries and because she met all of the requirements listed on the job description, after talking
p g
to Human Resources I was able to appoint her, she will be starting June 1, 2021.
6) Needs of the Department
i. Installation of the card key access with TS and Convergint Technology.
ii. The. Juvenile Department is in need of a New Security Camera System. The SecurityCamera System that
Y t
we currently have was purchased in the early 90's. Throughout out the years they upgraded the system,
Y,
but the system is so old that any time we have any problems with our security camerasystem Tech
service is not able to help us fix the problems. I am currently working with Tech Services toeta quote,.
g,
as our current system extremely old and inadequate.
I have been looking at a CasaManager system web based subscription platform designed for our
Dependency unit CASA/GAL. Currently we do not have a program that can track statistics and reports
other than spread sheets and electronic filing (saving documents and orders into the computers). The
quote is very affordable, the subscription is $39 dollars per user a month (this includes licenses and
upgrades and support). We will probably need 4-5 users and aone-time data migration fee from Excel
spreadsheet into CASAManager program of $500.
iv. I am currently working directly with Kirk to propose the change of our standby.
