Re: Support for the inclusion of adequate funding for Water Infrastructure for Agriculture.
Dear Senator Cantwell:
As Congress begins to debate the Infrastructure Framework, the Grant County Board of
Commissioners ask that adequate funding for both aging agricultural water infrastructure, as well
as desperately needed new agriculture water infrastructure, be included in any agreed upon
package.
Federal funds made available for agricultural water pro4.
jects would help build the water delivery
infrastructure needed to address the economic and environmental crisis of the declining Odessa
Aquifer within the Columbia Basin Project. Federal funding is also needed to maintain the
existing, aging infrastructure in the developed part of the Columbia Basin Project. Federal
funding for agricultural water infrastructure is a critical component for a reliable water source for
farmers, cities, towns and other purposes, not only in the Columbia Basin but across the country.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
BO -AIRDO G T COUNTY COlOiIMISSI®NERS
