3) Courts:
Totals
i OFFENDER/DIVERSION: All civil and criminal matters are still being held via WebEx, and we only
have in person court hearings for Dispositions and Trials.
The communication with the prosecutor's office has been excellent and the court process for our
Juvenile court has improved tremendously. We are holding weekly meetings with the juvenile
prosecutor to staff upcoming dispositions, and this has been working great.
ii. TRUANCY: Our first school year docket was held on September 13, 2021. We currently have 84
active petitions, 73 total stays, and so far, nothing has been filed this school year.
DEPENDENCY: The dependency unit is also doing regular docket hearings, via WebEx.
Note: In home visits are still not allowed due to COVID. Staff are continuing to meet with youth
and families outside their homes or at the Office following social distancing and PPE
protocolsandall staff will be required to wear a mask outside of their offices.
4) Martin Hall: In the last Martin Hall meeting that was held on Thursday September 23, 2021, Mark
Boyer, Martin Hall Administrator advised that they are experiencing a staff shortage. Out of the 23
officers, they currently only have 7 available officers to cover all shifts. 2 officers are out due to
COVID leaving them with 14 vacancies.
The Juvenile Department has had one incident so far with transportation issues last Thursday
September 23, 2021 where they did not have a transportation officer and our Intake officer was awaiting for
a transportation officer for a period longer than 8 hours. I was able to talk to Mark Boyer and he advised that
they are continuously trying to work on this issue, but they are having a hard time having applicants apply for
the open positions.
I expressed my deep concerns and the burden that this can potentially cause Grant County if this issue is not
resolved soon.
5) Administration: We are still waiting for the Association to re- schedule a meeting with Human
Resources and myself to discuss the impact to staff doing this job. They had cancelled our last 3
meetings. I spoke with Kirk yesterday and he will be scheduling a meeting with the association soon
to address this issue.
• Environmental Assessment at Grant County Juvenile Court & Youth Services.
• Our next Mediation meeting with the Association will be this next Thursday September 30th, 2021 at
gam.
• Governor Inslee's proclamation - Agency Affiliated Counselors. A letter was sent to 10 employees that
fall under this category. Out of the 10 employees 5 of them are already vaccinated, 2 of them were
given religious accommodation and we are still waiting to hear from 3employees. Kirk sent a reminder
yesterday morning on September 27, 2021 advising if they were receiving his email their position was
subject to the pending state vaccinate mandate and the due date is only three weeks away.
• Requesting to work remotely as follow:
lam — 7:45am remotely. From 8 am to 2:15 at the office and from 2:30pm to 5:30pm remotely
beginning on October 4, 2021 and ending on October 15, 2021 due to my daycare provider closing for
2 weeks.
6) Needs of the Department
L Tech Services advised the security cameras have arrived and they will be installing shortly.
