Tentative Agenda
International Overdose Awareness Day —August 31, 2022
Ephrata WA 4:30 — 6:30pm
Purpose: This campaign will raise awareness on overdose, which is one of the world's worst public
health crises and will stimulate action and discussion regarding evidence -based overdose prevention
and drug policy. This International Overdose Awareness event will provide awareness regarding
overdose of any substance while simultaneously acknowledging the grief of family and friends who have
lost someone due to overdose and provide information on local support and prevention services in
Grant County.
Event: The Grant County Health District and Renew are partnering together to host an event for
International Overdose Awareness Day. Between the years 2016 — 2020 there have been 67 deaths due
to Overdose of any substance and 172 lives saved due to Naloxone in Grant County. During this event
white (overdose of any substance) purple (lives saved by Narcan) marker flags will be displayed on the
courthouse lawn. These flags will provide a visual representation of the lives impacted by overdose in
Grant County.
Speakers: GCHD and Renew have partnered with Hope Source, Grant County Recover Navigators and
Law enforcement departments across Grant County, to provided education about overdose, prevention,
and treatment services. We will have 3-4 speakers who will discuss the impact of overdose in Grant
County, while also providing a message hope to the community. Speakers will be positioned at the steps
of the courthouse, emphasizing the gravity of this issue.
Resources & Education: During event hours resources and education will be provided to all in
attendance. GCDH will provide Naloxone and onsite Naloxone training will be available for those who
choose to take one. Renew will be providing locked bags for the promotion of safe storage regarding
