HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 21-112-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grant County, Washington RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR RESOLUTION No. 21- //a -CC GRANT COUNTY EMPLOYEES CONCERNING POTENTIAL EMPLOYMENT TERMINATION BASED ON VACCINATION STATUS WHEREAS, State and federal officials have put in place, or are openly considering, COVID-19 vaccination mandates for employees of certain public and private entities; and WHEREAS, many of the aforementioned mandates, if not adhered to, carry the threat of employment termination; and WHEREAS, Grant County, as an employer, has not required any vaccination or knowledge thereof as a prerequisite for employment; but fully supports the rights of employees to choose to receive a COVID-19 vaccine or to choose to remain unvaccinated. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Grant County Board of Commissioners believes it is the right of each of the county's employees to choose for themselves whether to receive a COVID-19 vaccine; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should COVID-19 vaccination mandates be imposed upon local governments, the Grant County Board of Commissioners is committed to providing every possible, legal accommodation and exemption to Grant County employees so that their freedom of choice, personal autonomy, medical freedom and freedom of religion shall be preserved; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Grant County Board of Commissioners recommends all private entities take a similar stance in relation to their employees; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Grant County Commissioners urges members of the Washington State legislature to convene for deliberation concerning the current emergency powers delegated to Washington's governor.
