Week of May 22,1989
The Grant County Commissioners session was called to order at
9:00 a.m. by Chairman Glenn Chamberlain. All of the Commissioners were
in attendance with the Clerk of the Board.
The Commissioners approved the minutes of the preceeding session.
The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Stephen Greer
of the Prosecutors Office at $2,208 per month effective May 1,1989.
The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Frank Chavez of
the Sheriff Department at $1,414, effective May 1,1989.
The Commissioners approved the salary of $4.00 per hour for Gaye
McClendon of the Prosecutors Office effective April 1,1989.
The Commissioners approved out of state travel for the Prosecuting
Attorney to attend the National District Attorneys Association summer
conference and board meeting.
The Commissioners approved the salary increase of the District
Court Legal Process Assistants II to $1345 per month effective May
1,1989 due to the Position Evaluation Committee evaluation.
Chairman Chamberlain was authorized to sign the approval of the
Liquor Licence application of Clare L. Roylance, et ux, and Columbia
Basin Chapter of the Enological Society of the Pacific Northwest.
The Commissioners appointed LaRain Hudson to the Mental Health and
Developmental Disabilities Board.
The Commissioners received notification from the County Auditor,
Frances Wadham of certification from more than twenty-five voters, residing
over ten miles from any polling place, who are petitioning to have a
VBM precinct formed for their voting convenience.
The Commissioners approved the request by Grant County Mental Health
Office to obtain a credit card for use by their office staff for unforeseen.
travel expenses.
The Commissioners met with various elected officials and department
heads regarding matters of mutual concern.
As there was no further business the session was continued until
May 23,1989.

The session was continued at 9:00 a.m. with all of the Commissioners
in attendance with the Clerk of the Board.
The Commissioners met with the Public Works Department regarding
Contract Execution-Auctioneering Services, Resolution -Solid Waste Uncol-
lectables, Annual Bridge Report, Estimate -Coulee City Request, Estimate -
Extension of Lake View Drive, Cost Share Request -Extension of 'A' SW,
UAB(TIB) Projects, 10:00 -Jack Patrick,10:30-Felix Ramon,Sheriff, 11:00 -
Jack Hunter.
The Commisisoners approved a request by the County Treasurer, Darryl
Pheasant regarding distribution of interest between the Port of Moses Lake
and M.L.I.D. Park Fund.
The Commissioners signed an Auction Services Contract with Northwest
Auction Company.
A motion was made by Commissioner Goodwin and seconded by Commissioner
Chandler that Resolution Number 89 -49 -CC in the matter of uncollectible
account receivable in the Solid Waste Division be passed. The motion
carried.
The Commissioners approved the cost estimate and information pro-
vided by the Public Works Department on the Coulee City request to widen
a short section of the West approach to Coulee City.
The Commissioners agreed to offer a 50-50 cost share arrangement
to those requesting the extension of Lake View Drive from Golf Club Road
to '20' NW.
The Commissioners received the 1989 Bridge Status report from the
Public Works Department.
The Commissioners signed the Public Works Payroll Journal in the
amount of $153,845.86.
The Commissioners signed a Contract with North central Construction
on the 5 -SW Road Reconstruction and the Beverly -Burke Road Reconstruction
Projects.
The Commissioners received a Claim for Damages from Alice L. Goehring
which was referred to the Prosecuting Attorney for handling.
The Commissioners held a Public Meeting at 1:30 p.m. regarding the
Zone Change request by James Eddie. A motion was made by Commissioner
Chandler and seconded by Commissioner Chamberlain that the Planning Com-
mission recommendation for denial be upheld. The motion carried.
As there was no further business the session was adjourned until
May 30,1989.
