HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 95-127-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grant County, Washington RESOLUTION NUMBER 95 -127 -CC WHEREAS, the Columbia Basin Civilian Conservation Center, located in Moses Lake, has assisted young people by providing basic education, vocational skills, training, work experience, counseling, health care, and advanced academic training for the past thirty years, and WHEREAS, the Columbia Basin CCC has for the past six years in conjunction with Sunrise Group Home, a State administered institution for juvenile offenders, provided basic education, vocational skills, and training, thereby providing a realistic program for rehabilitation, and WHEREAS, Job Corps is the oldest public-private partnership program in the country and has proven its graduates find and maintain gainful employment and are able to become productive citizens and achieve their economic goals, and WHEREAS, the Commissioners of Grant County are proud to support Job Corps which has over the past thirty years trained thousands of young men and women in our community, and WHEREAS, as a by-product of this training, Grant County has seen the benefit from the millions of dollars of public works projects for our residents to use and enjoy that range from the creation of handicapped access ramps to the construction of a fire barn for the Grant County Fire Department, and WHEREAS, the Columbia Basin CCC is respected within our communities for their unselfish and enthusiastic community involvement, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that November 9, 1995 be declared Columbia Basin Civilian Conservation Center day, and give our thanks to this dedicated group for all they have done.
