GRANT COUNTY, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 96 -66 -CC
WHEREAS, millions of Americans may experience a mental disorder at some
point during their lives, and may suffer devastating consequences as a result;
WHEREAS, Grant County Mental Health & Family Service Center has made a commitment
to community-based systems of mental healthcare for all residents of the county;
WHEREAS, during and following the February tragedy at Frontier Junior High
School, Grant County Mental Health staff members provided services the first
weekend to 300 individuals, and continues to provide ongoing counseling and
support services. All the staff have given 100% to the citizens of our community
to help with the healing process, and are thankful that they were able to
"be there" in this time of great need.
WHEREAS, state, local, and federal governments continue to struggle with ways
to ensure all Americans who need physical and behavioral healthcare services
can receive the help they need;
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Grant County Commissioners
that May, 1996 be proclaimed as MENTAL HEALTH MONTH in Grant County. The
Board of Grant County Commissioners calls upon all citizens, government
agencies, public and private institutions, businesses and schools in Grant
County to recommit our county to its original vision for community mental
healthcare through education, volunteerism, and understanding.
