Week of August 11,1997
The Grant Couniy Corr�missioners session was called to order at
9:00 a.m. by Chairman LeRoy Allison. All of the Commissioners were
in attendance v�ith the Clerk of the Board.
The Commissioners read and approved the minutes of the
preceding session as written.
The Commissioners approved the request by M& M Quality Water
Works,lnc. for required system maintenance of ihe Marine View V1/ater
System in the estimated amount of $6,006.
The Comrr�issioners had a discussion with Columbia NW
Engineering regarding the road improvements on the Haney Plat
Alteratiano They denied the request for consideration of a�nraiver of the
requirement to provide a 2 shot BST surfacing on the street.
The �ommissioners approved the Request for Transfer of funds
in the Current Expense Fund 3001, Capital Outlay Department #14� in
the amount of $9,244 for �the purchase of a copy rr�achine in District
Court.
Chairman Allison was authorized to sign the IVotice of Separation
or Work Interruption of Donna Williams of the Assessors Office.
The Commissioners approved the salary increases of Elisa M.
Ponozzo, Karen R. Stokoe and Betty K, Catlow of the Clerks Office. All
to be effective August 1,1997.
The Commissioners approved the starting salary of Sharon iVl. H.
Shibata of the Clerks �ffice at $1840 per month effective August �1,1997.
Th� Commissioners received an fl�der granting extension of time
to adopt the IUGA for the City of Moses Laice from the Growth
Management Hearings Board for Eastern Vl�ashington.
The Commissioners approved the starting salary of John Turley
of the Sheriffs Office at $2,394.90 per month effective August 15,1997.
The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Tracy Jones
of the Sheriff's Office to $2,087 per month effective September 1,1997.
The Commissioners approved the starting salary of Thomas
Bonnington of the Sheriffs Office at $1,69fi per month effective August
4,1997.
The Commissioners rrvere notified that Elvin Kulp, Extension
Chairman would be out of the office from August 12th through 1�►ugust
17th, writh Gary Pelter acting as chairman during h6s absence.
The Cammissianers were notified that John Knodell, Prosecuting
Attorney �routd b� out of the offic� for six io eight weeks far the
Loukaitis case and that Chief Deputy Steve Hallstrom would be
handling all his responsibilities and duties.
Th� �ammissioners recei�ret� Resalution P�o. 213 f�-arm the �'own
s�f Coulee City suppor�ing the implementa�ion ofthe'I/1�th of 1°I� sales
tax. �
T�ae Comrnissioners approved ihe siarting sa�ary o� Dan Pitman
af #he Grant County Aicahai and Drug Gen�er at one hunelreci percent
of the salary for a Chemicai Dependen�y Couns�lvr effec�tive
September 2,1997. He will aiso begin receiving medicai �renefi�s an ihat
d ate.
The Public Hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.r�►. on the Lang Zone
Change vwas continued un�il August 2�,1997 at 2:3Q p.m. due to arr
advertising error.
As there was no further business to come before the Board fihe
session was continued unti! Augus# 12,1997.
The session was continued at 9:00 a.m. with all c�f the
Cvrr�missioners �n attendance with the Clerk of the Board.
The Cammissiflners approved the request by David Nelson,
Coun�y BuildinglFire iVlarshal far ihe continued �ase of �ernpvrary help
to help o� se�t personnet shortages during the summer.
The Commissioners signed the Public �IVorks Claims Fund
Vc�ucher approvat #7-1 through #7-157 in the total amount af
$°{,22Q,t32�.98.
The Commissior�ers re�eived notice from the Teamsters Union of
their desire �to open the Courthouse coniract for the purpose �►f
modificativn of wages and benefits only for the 1998 year.
As ofi this date the Baaard by a majority vote does approve for
payrr�ent those vauchers inciuded in the iist filed in #he Auditors t'7ffice
