Re: GWMA Research Project, Public Information/Education Budget
At the monthly meeting of the Columbia Basin GWMA Executive Board held on
January 20, 2000, several presentations were made which involved requests for the
expenditures of GWMA grant monies for Research and Early Implementation projects, and
for the Information/Education budget.

"Wii�ter N�tragen/�tTVater. 1Vloveme�t". `�'lus project >proposal is a study to folio� t:�e
lnovernent af x�utrients� in. the so�l ckuring the wi�te� montlis; and has application for tlie
n�trien� rnanagem:ent plans of clairiesr�a�d feed�o,ts,. Thi's project wi11 continue for three (3)
years and wi11 require a tota:l budget af`,$15,140�. Additional cQst shaxing of this project,
inclucling labor ancl travel expenses, will be providecl by the NRCS. Tlie Executive Baard
ap�rq�red the expei�d�ture o� f�ands for tliis �raject pending fhe ap��aval of flie Coiznty
Coiinxnissions.
Karen Bonaudi, GWMA Public Information/Education Specialist, presented a 6
month budget to the Executive Boaxd in the amount of $45,000. This budget includes the
creation of a CDRom and Video, events support, website upgrade, informational materials,
and other public education materials. The Executive Board approved the expenditure of funds
for thbs project pending the approval of the County Commissions.
We wo�ld request that each of the Counties draft a Resolution approving the
expenditure of�15,100 for a "Winter Nitro�en/Water Movement" research �roject. We also
request the expenditure of$45,000 for the Public Information/Education bud�et through June
30, 2000. Please forward your Resolution back to: Lynn F. Hall, Administrator, Columbia
