Re: 2001 Cost Share BMP Implementation
Dear Commissioners:
At the monthly meeting of the Columbia Basin GWMA Executive Board held in
January, 2001, the GWMA Executive Board was presented information regarding the success
of the GWMA BMP Cost Share programs in 2000. Because of the obvious need for
Irrigation Water Management, and because of the value of the information gained from the
GWMA Deep Soil Sampling Education program, it was determined that these programs
needed to be funded in 2001.
After discussion, the Executive Board agreed that GWMA's goal is to expend
$150,000 in 2001 for the Deep Soil Sampling Education and Monitoring program. GWMA
also has the goal to expend $350,000 of its Grant funds to support and cost share Irrigation
Water Management. There also exists a need to extend and increase the amount allotted for
technical assistance from the Conservation Districts in support of Deep Soil Sampling and
Irrigation Water Monitoring. The Executive Board agreed to expend $100,000 for Technical
Assistance to the CD's in 2001.
We are asking for a formal approval of this action from the Commissioners in the
form of a Resolution. Please notify me as soon as that has been done. If you have any
questions regarding this project, please feel free to :ontact me. Thank you for your help in
this matter.
Sincerely,
