IN THE MATTER OF SUPPORT
FOR THE PORT OF QUINCY AS
IT RELATES TO COUNTY ROADS

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners support improvements at
the Port of Quincy which would help Grant County and Washington State by increased
tax base and employment opportunities, and
WHEREAS, County Road P -NW will likely serve the proposed
improvements, and
WHEREAS, Road P -NW is on the county's truck route system, is a T-5 in
tonnage rating, is federally functionally classified as an 08 minor collector, and
WHEREAS, county road P -NW was reconstructed in 1996, from Road 10.5
-NW to Martin Road, to a 34 foot road width, and can handle moderate truck traffic,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County
Commissioners for Grant County, Washington supports and encourages the Quincy Port
District to proceed with various improvements, and the worthy Railroad Intermodal Project,
and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, if future traffic analysis
indicates Road P -NW would be structurally inadequate for the proposed truck volumes,
Grant County Public Works would be willing to allow the Port of Quincy to fund the
upgrade of Road P -NW, and it would become a oriority within the county's Transportation
Improvement Program.
