Week of April 24, 2000
The Grant County Commissioners session was called to order at 9:00
a.m. Commissioner Allison and Commissioner Snead were in attendance
with the Clerk of the Board. Chairman Moore was out of the office due to
illness.
The Commissioners read and approved the minutes of the preceding
session as written.
1<> The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Virginia Lowder
and Joyce Cooley -Wood of the Grant County Fairgrounds to $9.00 per hour.
tc�oH The Commissioners received a signed copy of the Community
Development Block Grant Contract Amendment #F -99-64099-066A
regarding the rent a tent program.
The Commissioners received a Claim for Discrimination and
negligence and punishment from Ralph Howard Blakely, Jr. The matter was
referred to the Prosecuting Attorney for handling.
I� 1:J �)7 The Commissioners received a Tort Claim against Grant County, filed
by Alan Bassani. The matter was referred to the Prosecuting Attorney for
handling.
j44 1 �13 oThe Commissioners approved the request for a budget extension in the
amount of $5,000 to the PARC 2000 budget to purchase the Portable Ropes
Challenge Kit.
(y J'Jo The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Edith S. Gomez
of the Juvenile Probation Department to $6.75 per hour.
IA -1 la Io As of this date the Board by a majority vote does approve for payment
those vouchers filed in the Auditors Office 4/24/2000 in the total amount of
$565,308.20.
1c� la I I The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Clara Fitzgerald
of the Auditors Office to $9.00 per hour effective May 1, 2000.
/q �;3/,� The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Donald J. Colson
of the Juvenile Probation Department to $7.00 per hour.
1S/7, The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Cleo M. Kenton
of the Juvenile Probation Department to $8.50 per hour.
I qI t a `/ The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Joleen D.
Kellams of the Juvenile Probation Department to $7.50 per hour.
41a /�L The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Brian J. Siebert of
the Juvenile Probation Department to $9.00 per hour.
I c� 1 S /C. The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Collette Herrera
of the Grant County Sheriff's Office to $2,168 per month.
1,4 I _� 17 The Commissioners approved the request by the Grant County
Fairgrounds to make Tami Schott a Regular Employee for the position of
Bookkeeper/Facility Secretary.
1�41 �4 1X The Commissioners approved the salary change for Alma Garcia of
the Prevention and Recovery Center to $1,246.58 per month effective April
1, 2000.
1 y l a 1,1 The Commissioners approved the salary change for Brenda Larsen of
the Community Development Department from 40 hours per week to 35
hours per week.
A motion was made by Commissioner Allison, seconded by
Commissioner Snead that Resolution Number 2000 -36 -CC setting the salary
for the Grant County Prosecuting Attorney be passed. The motion carried.
�,2 I A motion was made by Commissioner Allison, seconded by
Commissioner Snead that Resolution Number 2000 -37 -CC setting a Public
Hearing for May 16, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. relating to the facts requiring an
appropriation and expenditure of funds for the Current Expense Fund #001,
Interfund Communications Department 9129 in the amount of $749 be
passed. The motion carried.
,.t 1 A motion was made by Commissioner Allison, seconded by
Commissioner Snead that Resolution Number 2000 -38 -CC relating to the
transfer of funds within the 2000 budget of the Law and Justice Fund #121,
Department #163 in the amount of $30,000 be passed. The motion carried.
As there was no further business to come before the Board the session
was adjourned until April 25, 2000.
April 25, 2000
The session was continued at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Moore and
Commissioner Snead in attendance with the Clerk of the Board.
Commissioner Allison was attending a trial in Douglas County.

P- 'f) The Commissioners met with the Public Works Director regarding a
10:00 a.m. bid opening (K SE/1 SE), 10:30 Public Hearing (Vehicle
Marking), Bid Award Recommendation -Re -Bid Hauling, Bid Authorization -
2000 Hauling Services, Cooperative Purchasing Agreement -Douglas
County.
i 1�,) aU A bid opening was held regarding K SE/1 SE. A motion was made by
Commissioner Snead, seconded by Commissioner Moore to refer the bids to
the Public Works Director for review and recommendation. The motion
carried.
4 `6' A Public Hearing was held and a motion was made by Commissioner
Snead, seconded by Commissioner Moore that Ordinance No. 2000 -39 -CC
in the matter of "County Owned Vehicle Marking" be passed. The motion
carried.
The Commissioners signed the Authorization to Call for Bids on May
9, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. on Asphalt Hauling Services -2000.
1141:)d7 The Commissioners signed the Public Works Claims Fund Vouchers
Approval #4-1 through #4-2 in the total amount of $22,730.76.
/y/,;j�The Commissioners signed the Public Works Payroll Journal for the
month of April in the total amount of $297,134.40.
�y'ha�l The Commissioners approved the cost quoted by Apollo, Inc. for the
Grant County Justice Center Dormitory Addition in the amount of $155,200,
excluding Washington State Sales Tax.
j 4 153c)The Commissioners approved the request by the Sheriff's Office to
surplus two 1979 Kawasaki 1000 motorcycles and transfer them to Island
County.
As there was no further business to come before the Board the session
was adjourned until May 1, 2000.
